How to determine the right fit

Hello, I am Alyssa Jolie – thank you for considering Jolie Co. Finding the perfect navel jewelry can seem overwhelming, but fear not, I will guide you every step of the way. It only takes a few minutes and you will be glad you did.
If you are comfortable navigating the process alone, great – but just in case you require a professional consultation, we’re one text message away to help you find that perfect fit.
How do you determine the right fit?
Let’s start with a misconception. Very simply, there isn’t a standard length that’s right for you. Your belly ring should not be too tight and definitely not too long. If it's too tight, you risk putting too much pressure on your piercing, and if it's too long, the bar will stick out and get snagged and pull onto things. Please see the comprehensive guide for more details on navel health, fitting and jewelry.
A comfortable belly ring length is about 1 to 2mm longer than the distance between the top of your piercing and the lip or ridge of your navel. In other words, to get the perfect length, measure the distance from the top of your piercing to the shelf of your navel and add 1 to 2mm.
Aside from the length of the belly ring there's one more important factor to consider - the shape and size of your navel. If your navel is petite or closes in when you sit, certain styles may not be unsuitable and could potentially cause discomfort or irritation to your piercing. You simply want to ensure there’s enough room for the belly ring to sit comfortably in your navel.
To find the right length, watch the video and follow along.
NOTE: You will need are a clear plastic ruler with millimeter markings on it and your phone.
IMPERIAL SYSTEM: If you prefer working in inches 2mm is just over 1/16-inch. To increase accuracy, use a ruler that goes down to 1/32-inch lines. Measure between 1/32 and just over 1/16 of an inch over and follow the averaging below.
How to check what size of belly ring is right for your navel?
For the most part, our largest stone size should fit in even the smallest navel.
The most critical consideration is whether your navel closes in or collapses when you sit or bend. There needs to be enough room for the belly ring to move in your navel. When you bend your navel should not push into the belly ring gem and put pressure on your piercing. If you were professionally pierced, the piercer should have already advised you at the time you were pierced.
The length and height of your navel needs to be large enough to accommodate the stone.
ORDERING:
The following sizes are listed on our website: 6.5, 8, 10 and 11mm.
Our professional jewelers can easily accommodate half measure adjustments (meaning 0.5mm) or 9.5mm instead of 10mm or even 10.5mm. We can custom make any size - it is worth the wait. However, in certain popular styles we do not always list all items in inventory such as 9mm. So don’t hesitate to reach out to confirm availability.
Just a reminder – we’re one text message away to help you find that perfect fit. We cannot encourage you enough to send us your pictures to review and confirm your measurements. And we will do more than this. You will also get our input on the jewelry shape and style that best fits your navel.
